Disc-Stack Centrifuges

Alfa Laval Separation's CHB series of solids-retaining centrifuges is specifically designed for the hazardous environments and demanding separation requirements

Alfa Laval Separation's CHB series of solids-retaining centrifuges is specifically designed for the hazardous environments and demanding separation requirements of the chemical and process industries.

The centrifuges offer continuous, automatic liquid/liquid separation; throughput up to 250 gpm; solids holding up to 8 gallons; product-wetted parts made of high-grade stainless steel; gas-tight and explosion-protected design (with inert gas blanketing system as an option); and built-in liquid discharge pumps.

Typical applications include the washing of dibutyl phthalate mononitrobenzene or polycarbonates in the organic chemical industry; purification of mother liquor in hydrogen peroxide production in the inorganic chemistry industry; purification of inorganic and organic process waste in waste streams; and a range of other processes including clarification of printing ink, dewatering, and washing of solvents in the pharmaceutical industry.

The disc-stack feature increases sedimentation surface by more than 100 times, which, in combination with high gravitational forces, makes the machines very compact and highly efficient. A disc-stack unit with a capacity of 250 gpm, for example, requires only 2 square yards of floor space, as compared to over 100,000 yards static settling space.
