A brief history of Dycem

Dycem was founded by an innovative consultant engineer, David Cecil Mills, who discovered a product that would hold photographic film precisely under a microscope, so highly magnified photographs could be taken quickly and easily. David quickly realized the potential of this high tack polymer beyond the photographic industry and in 1966 set up a new company, Dycem Plastics Ltd. The original product line was Non-Slip trays and Non-Slip coat hangers, which were sold through department stores.

Since the early beginnings the company, product lines and markets Dycem Non-Slip reaches have expanded. Place mats, thin sheet material, jar openers and even mouse mats are just some of the Non-Slip product range sold through a network of distributors to over 35 countries worldwide.

The Non-Slip line has also recently been introduced to the cleanroom laboratory. Alongside the expansion of the Non-Slip range, Dycem developed the particulate controlling properties of its high tack polymer, launching in 1974 a range of contamination control floor mats. Used by the cleanroom, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, bio-tech, aerospace and automotive industries, Dycem's contamination control products have expanded from loose laid mats to flooring systems and cleanroom rollers. Dycem's Clean-Zone has been consistently proved in independent scientific test studies to be the most effecient system for controlling foot and wheelborne contamination, as well as the most cost-ef Dycem was awarded ISO 9002 in 1993, underlining the company's commitment to a quality product and service for both our customers and distributors. Dycem is registered under the European Union's Medical Device Regulations 1994 (CE Marking) as a Class 1 Device (Aids for daily Living).
