Presentation will highlight the critical value of having a quality-based refurbishment program for multi-use shippers

Pelican BioThermal, the global name in temperature-controlled packaging, is sponsoring a presentation by Eli Lilly at the 2019 Cold Chain Global Forum entitled: “The Critical Value of a Quality-Based Refurbishment Program for the Maintenance and Management of Multi-Use Shipping Solutions.” The presentation by Eli Lilly Quality Assurance Consultant Jan Gerbers will be at 3:30 p.m. on October 17 in the Mid-Maturity Track of the conference at the Sheraton in Boston.

The presentation will discuss Eli Lilly’s implementation of Pelican BioThermal multi-use shipper solutions and the significance of having a structured, quality-driven refurbishment program. It will also present lessons the company has learned through the collaboration with Pelican BioThermal as well as Eli Lilly’s current state of assurance for consistent, reliable performance.

While the Eli Lilly presentation will focus on its use of multi-use shippers for clinical trial distribution, the processes detailed during the presentation are transferable to commercial applications.

“Eli Lilly chose Pelican BioThermal based on our ability to meet their requirements and cost,” said Kevin Lawler, vice president of sales for Pelican BioThermal. “Through this collaboration, they began to more fully understand the relationship between components and systems, and the importance of standard processes at all refurbishment centers to drive quality and consistency.”

Pelican BioThermal provides temperature-controlled, multi-use shipping containers to pharmaceutical manufacturers via its Crēdo™ on Demand rental program. The rental program enables businesses to select the shipper application that best fits their company’s requirements, logistics profile and budget. Pelican BioThermal has rapidly expanded its Crēdo on Demand rental program in recent years — adding new network stations and service centers across the world to return, refurbish and condition multi-use shippers. Currently, multi-use shippers account for 60% of Pelican BioThermal’s revenue.

“We are very committed to maintaining the highest quality standards throughout our Crēdo on Demand rental program,” said Lawler. “Our collaboration with Eli Lilly demonstrated this commitment and we look forward to continuing to help them deliver their temperature-sensitive clinical trial products on time and intact throughout the world.”
