About emWare®
If your products could only talk, they could say all kinds of things. They could notify businesses when they need service; they could tell you what customers like and dislike; and how businesses could change products to better meet the needs of their customers. This is the essence of e-smart™ and what emWare is all about.

emWare's EMIT® device-networking software is the essential element for managing any electronic device, in any industry, over any network, using any interface. emWare has the solution and delivers the companies to make e-smart devices a reality today. These devices provide information to better manage home and work environments.

emWare is the founder of the Embed The Internet™ (ETI) Alliance, a progressive group of technology companies committed to providing complete, cost-effective, e-smart solutions based on standard Internet technologies that enable any electronic device to be managed and controlled remotely over the Internet. These innovative products and services provide businesses with the ability to capture and use the information within intelligent devices for better business planning and management. The technologies of ETI companies combined with emWare's EMIT technology deliver a wide range of tools including the hardware, software, and the global network needed to create sophisticated management solutions for home and business products, and industrial equipment.

emWare's EMIT software can be designed into new or existing devices. At the core of its distributed networking architecture is emMicro™—a tiny device object server that uses as little as 1 Kb of memory at the device. The three main software components—emMicro, emGateway™, and the EMIT Access Library—provide a complete and flexible device-to-user solution. The emMicro networking software component resides on the microcontroller.

emMicro works in conjunction with emGateway, which bridges large, conventional networks, including LANs, WANs, intranets and the Internet, to lightweight device networks, such as RS232, RS485, CAN, IR and RF. emGateway can reside on a PC or single-board computer. In addition, emGateway will be offered as a service through AT&T's Global Network Services. Standard Internet technologies, including Java, ActiveX and HTTP, are supported through emGateway, which manages communications between the device and a designated interface. The interface can be a standard Web browser using JavaBean objects, a spreadsheet using Activex, or a PDA, phone, database or enterprise application.
