Enamelon Receives Additional Patent For 'Remineralization' Technology

Enamelon, Inc. has been issued an additional U.S. patent covering a new composition of the Company's "remineralization" technology as it could be applied to a broad range of oral care products including mouth rinse, powder dentifrices or food products.

The new composition involves a dry mix of calcium salts, phosphate salts and an additional non-toxic divalent of metal, which is combined with a flavor and sweetener. The composition may or may not include fluoride or a surfactant, which serves to create a foaming action.

Enamelon, Inc. uses its proprietary "remineralization" technology to develop over-the-counter oral care products, providing the active ingredient fluoride in a formulation containing soluble calcium and phosphate.

Dr. Steven R. Fox, chairman of the Enamelon Board, explained that the new patent expands the Company's ability to provide its remineralization technology in products of different forms. "We believe our remineralizing technologies and those licensed to us by the American Dental Association Health Foundation offer significant advances in cavity protection," said Dr. Fox. "Our human clinical trials are ongoing and we remain committed to utilizing this research to provide an expanding base of evidence for additional performance claims," he concluded.
