Fermentation Separation System
As a complete system, the VNPX 710 comes with separator, starter, cyclone, control equipment and ancillary equipment. The module is factory-tested and ready for operation after connection to the process stream flows and electrical supply.
Central to the system is the solids-ejecting centrifuge. Operating at 12,800 G force, the centrifuge can handle a variety of biopharmaceutical separation tasks including whole cell harvesting, broth clarification, and lysate clarification (cell debris separation). A noted feature is its patented Disk Inlet. The optional low shear inlet provides a gentle feed zone for applications requiring gentle handling.
The machine's solids-ejecting bowl incorporates a hydraulic system for intermittent discharge of solids. Partial discharge of solids occurs while the separator is operating at full speed. Separated solids are ejected into the solids receptacle and then into the cyclone which reduces the kinetic energy of the discharged solids. This system is also equipped with a direct gear drive with a controlled-torque motor, permitting faster recovery of correct bowl speed after solids ejection.
The separation system contains all necessary components for proper and safe operation of a biotechnology unit. Fully automatic controls insure high degree repeatability for product consistency. The operator selects required sequences of the control program by communicating with the system via a touch sensitive monitor integrated into the control panel. System controls permit monitored checks of the process operation, including discharge intervals and flow rates.
The system also includes an emergency stop function and safety equipment to insure safe and reliable operation. All systems are manufactured in facilities that are in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
