Foster Wheeler Switzerland Office to Serve Pharmaceuticals, Fine Chemicals Firms

As part of an effort to expand and reorganize its pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals businesses, Foster Wheeler Corporation has formed Steril (Schweiz) AG, a new company that will specialize in serving those industries.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Steril (Schweiz) AG provides Foster Wheeler with a location in a German-speaking environment staffed by management and employees fluent in German, French and English. Foster Wheeler has named Peter Sala as General Manager of Steril (Schweiz). Sala holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Engineering College in Muttenz, Basel, and an MBA from the University of Rochester in the United States. Before joining Steril (Schweiz), Sala was engineering manager at the Basel-based engineering company EWA Technik AG.

Among the services to be offered by the Swiss-based operation are processing skills for primary plants, both chemical and biotech, finishing/formulation, validation and project-management services.

Steril (Schweiz) AG is owned by and will operate closely with Steril SpA, a Foster Wheeler company based in Milan. Steril SpA is an engineering and construction services company for the pharmaceutical market and a specialized manufacturer of clean rooms, laminar airflow cabinets and related equipment.
