From the ISA Meeting: Tyco launches smart valve product line
"The addition of the AVID product line to Tyco allows our valve business to make the quantum leap from hardware supplier to provider of advanced technologies for process control systems," said Phillippe Meyer, president of Tyco Valves & Controls. "It gives us the opportunity to be at the forefront of these exciting developments, and to add significant value to our future dealings with customers."
The "factory of the future" will have actuated valves which are connected by a network system, enabling individual communication from control room to valve. Real-time information about valves' status, performance, and other diagnostic data will be communicated. The AVID (Automated Valve Interface Device) range of network monitors, controls, and positioners represents the latest technology for finite position control of automated process valves.
With the addition of this comprehensive product line, Tyco now markets a complete range of dual position monitors, control monitors, network monitors, electro-pneumatic positioners, and smart positioners for the chemical, food and beverage, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and oil industries. Tyco Valves & Controls' Smart positioners support Hart protocol; AVID network solutions support multiple protocols, including AS-interface, DeviceNet, and Profibus systems.
Tyco Valves & Controls is part of Tyco Flow Control. Tyco Flow Control designs, manufactures, and services piping, couplings, fittings, meters, hangers, valves, cable tray, metal framing, and fire sprinklers, and provides engineering consulting, total water management services, and environmental consulting and remediation. Including AVID and other brands, Tyco Flow Control is a leading producer of monitors, controls, positioners, and actuators for automated valve packages. Tyco Flow Control is one of the major business units of Tyco International Ltd.
