Hardy Instruments Receives Factory Mutual Approval for Division One Hazardous Areas

San Diego, CA - Hardy Instruments, Inc., announces that Factory Mutual Systems of Norwood, MA has approved their Advantage Series of load sensors and HI 215JB series junction boxes for use in Division I Hazardous (classified) locations. These products are approved as intrinsically safe for use in Class I, II and III, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F and G, non-incendive with a T4 temperature rating for Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D, and suitable for Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G as well as Class III Division 2.

This means an HI 2151WC Weight Controller can be attached to a HI 215JB Series Junction Box and Advantage Series C2 Load Sensors all in a Division 2 rated hazardous area without the need for any intrinsic barriers. This makes a properly installed system not only safe from fire and explosion but also easier and less expensive to install and maintain. A barrier assembly (available from Hardy Instruments) would be required if the controller is in a safe or Division 2 area while the junction box and load sensors are in a Division I area.
