We congratulate Xiaolong Chen and Dr. Karlheinz Seyfang for winning the Preis für Pharma-Technik with Prof. Dr. Hartwig Steckel at the Universität Kiel.

They received the award for their development of the MicroVibe powder dosing system for filling micro quantities of pharmaceutical powder and APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients). It was awarded by BAH (Bundesverband der Arzneimittel-Hersteller e.V.) and pharmind.

In contrast to older technologies such as the drum filler, this new powder filling system is continually adjustable over a very wide range of fills which together with its low residual powder makes it very suitable for filling products for clinical trials.

The team received their award for their paper "Integration of an In-line Dose Verification into a Micro-dosing System for Fine Powders". In contrast to the use of X-rays, the in-line mass sensing technology used enables the individual mass dtermination of separately dosed constituents in oral combination capsules. In the opinion of the panel they see many areas of application of this dosing technology as a PAT tool.
