Helical Filter

The Helical filter / dryer is designed to eliminate operator contact through all phases of the separation and drying process - including cleaning and solid discharge. It is designed for bulk pharmaceutical or fine chemical filtration, for maximum operator safety and minimum production contamination.

All process steps such as filtration, cake washing, drying and solid discharge are made in a closed System and thereby meet even the strictest environmental laws. Complete filtering of the suspension and the washing liquid is another attribute. Because of the conception of the helical filter a large filtration area is available in a small working volume.

The principal item of the filter is the helical coil. Since the suspension flows round the entire filter element, the residue settles continuously and evenly on the upper surface of the helical coil. In cases of fast sedimentation, solid particles can be kept suspended by reversing the rotation of the helix. Filter cake can be washed dynamically in the filter itself with a minimum amount of washing liquid. Less than half of the vessel volume is sufficient. Rotation of the filter element supports washing of the filter cake and is comparable with the effect of the washing machine. In consideration of the environmental laws cake will be dried or discharged in a closed System. The turning helical coil is used as screw conveyor. After discharge of the solid the helical filter element is ready for filtration again.

The Helical Filter Element can be equipped with all filter media that are available on the market and can be fixed in a very short of time. There is only one gasket needed for a seal. If a multiple sheeted sintered metal is used a gasket is not necessary.
