High Shear Granulator

Glatt Air Techniquesatt-Powrex Vertical Granulator is a high shear processor capable of mixing, kneading, and granulating in a single vessel. An impeller located at the base of the processing chamber imparts energy to the process material. As the material moves in a spiral motion within the chamber, the bowl geometry acts in concert with the impeller blade (cross screw) to produce an optimized material flow pattern.

A liquid binder is introduced through a nozzle located in the lid of the processing chamber. The granulator's mixing action distributes the binder quickly. The spiral pattern of the material created by the impeller and bowl geometry produces a rolling and compacting action, which produces high-density granules. A variable speed cross screw located in the processing chamber applies additional shear, evenly distributing the liquid binder and breaking up any oversized agglomerates that may have formed, which can then be discharged through a port in the chamber.
