Horiba Introduces The Slurry Sampler For Automated Particle Size Analysis

Source: HORIBA Instruments, Inc.

Horiba introduces the Slurry Sampler autosampler for the Partica LA-950 Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer. The Slurry Sampler fully automates particle size measurement for improved reproducibility, system availability and productivity. A number of features make the system consistent and reliable for various applications. Sample mixing can be achieved either with a mechanical stirrer or magnetic stir plate. The sampling probe is cleaned in an integrated wash station to prevent sample cross-contamination. Sample containers can be configured depending on customer requirements with up to 60 sample positions.

The Scheduler software makes routine operation extremely easy and simple as filling in a spreadsheet. A Condition and Method file are selected from a list, the sample information, position and the file name are entered, and one button starts the analysis. The resulting data is processed automatically for the ultimate in streamlined, efficient measuring. High priority samples can be inserted into the sequence at any time and the instrument can be operated in a manual mode without any hardware changes.

Horiba's highly reliable LA-950 Particle Size Analyzer includes a powerful integrated sample dispersion system and flexible software, making it a perfect candidate for true hands-free automation. More frequent checks on production runs or a greater number of variables in a research project can be tested in a shorter period of time. Also, measurement can easily take place during non-peak hours, increasing system availability, and productivity. As a result, users report that the system often pays for itself in three to six months. This new accessory has been designed for quick and easy operation, with complete flexibility for running samples manually at any time.

The Partica LA-950 Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer has the widest measurement range (0.01-3000µm), fastest analysis time (one minute sample-to-sample), and most powerful sample dispersion systems available. The revolutionary optical system design combined with improved components and a highly refined algorithm provide unmatched accuracy, precision and resolution. The built-in automation in the hardware and software ensures reproducibility and ease of use. A full range of wet and dry sampling systems are available to optimize the system for specific user requirements. The unique measurement cell system allows dispersion units to be changed in a matter of seconds.
