    Coreflex now offers ultra-flexible, smooth bore hoses of Teflon with conductive innercore. Concerns of interior electrostatic build-up are now eliminated with Coreflex's new product offerings: SB-COR (silicone cover) & BXB-COR (stainless steel overbraid).

    A conductive innercore of Teflon is required for applications where electro-static potential can occur. A majority of materials serve as good conductors, allowing electrons to move back and forth, therefore, maintaining their equilibrium. Some materials (including Teflon®) are considered insulators, inhibiting the flow of electrons. The result: static charge build-up on the surface of the Teflon®. If this charge builds to a point exceeding the dielectric strength of the material, arcing could occur.

    Potential electrostatic build-up inside a hose will be influenced by a number of variables: (i) the velocity of the conveyed material, (ii) the material being conveyed, (iii) filtration and/or turbulence in the flow stream, and (iv) humidity and temperature.

    Materials that are poor conductors of electricity will typically possess these inherent characteristics:

    1. Non-polarity (an imbalance between protons and electrons)
    2. Composition of non-mixable material, or a suspended solid (i.e. water and kerosene)

    Materials that may be subject to electrostatic concerns (particularly at high flow rates or downstream of filtration include;

    Potentially problematic materials can be transferred safely with Coreflex conductive, Teflon® innercore. Coreflex SB-COR and BXB-COR hoses are designed to allow a maximum resistance of 10?6 ?, when inducing a charge of 500 volts, direct current. The hose core allows any electrostatic charge to convey directly to the metallic end connections where charges can be grounded.
