How Does Cambrex Work With Client To Develop Manufacturing Processes?

Source: Cambrex

Greg Buenger is Group Leader, Chemical Development at Cambrex Charles City, IA, where he has spent 26 years. He holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Central College and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Iowa, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.

He leads a team of scientists in process R&D, with experience developing laboratory-scale processes and transferring them to commercial scale. He also collaborates with scientists at other Cambrex sites to bring processes into Charles City. His expertise spans process development, technology transfer, process validation, and process optimization.

Asked how Cambrex works with clients to develop manufacturing processes, Buenger describes a hands-on partnership between R&D and the plant. His team walks process engineers through the chemistry so they can write batch records, then puts a chemist on the floor for the first manufacturing batch to advise operators, troubleshoot problems, and run any lab work needed to recover a batch or support process changes.
