It is necessary to test a metal detector to be sure that it is working properly at the agreed sensitivity. To test the detector, pass product containing small metal test pieces of an exact size, through the detector. Confirm the samples are detected and rejected. You should be provided with special metal test samples and also instruction on how frequently to perform testing.
Types of test samples
Accurate test samples, in the form of tiny metal balls of known diameter, are mounted onto non- metallic cards or plastic blocks. Ideally they should be in ferrous, non-ferrous or stainless steel metal. These samples are available from your detector supplier.
