The light source and the detector are integrated in the sensor. The sensor has a lot of ISM functions (Intelligent Sensor Management). All system and calibration data and all wear information are stored in the sensor. The current of the photodiode is used for calculating the oxygen concentration in the transmitter and this value is being transferred digitally to the transmitter.

The METTLER TOLEDO sensors InPro6880i are based on the so call fluorescence quenching. The signal of the fluorescence is compared with a reference signal and the oxygen concentration is calculated from the time shift between these two signals. The oxygen concentration is displayed on the transmitter. A 0 – 20 mA signal (4-20mA) can be released by the transmitter.
