Mannogem EZ Granular Mannitol
Mannitol is the preferred excipient for chewable tablets due to its favorable mouthfeel. Mannitol is nonhygroscopic. It does not add moisture or contribute to moisture pickup and is also chemically inert. These properties make mannitol a useful excipient for tablets because it protects water-sensitive actives from degradation and does not react with the active. Mannitol does not undergo the Maillard reaction and therefore does not discolor in the presence of free amines.
Mannogem EZ Granular Mannitola spray dried product that has a very narrow particle size distribution, excellent mouthfeel, superior flow properties and a very good compression profile.
Typical Properties vs standard Mannogem Granular Mannitol
Mannitol Assay |
Particle Size |
Comments | |
Mannogem Granular Mannitol | 96-100% | 170-1190 m | USP, EP, nonhygroscopic, directly compressible |
Mannogem EZ | 96-100% | 150-200 m | USP, EP, nonhygroscopic, directly compressible |
This grade should be used when a narrow particle size range is required in order to avoid segregation from the active. Mannogem EZ also allows the formulator to achieve appropriate hardness for chewable tablets at lower compression forces.
Figure 1 shows the compressibility of Mannogem EZ in comparison with our standard Mannogem Granular Mannitol.
