Our History
MAPICS was a landmark product when it was first released by IBM over 20 years ago. For the first time, a packaged software product embodied the full functionality of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) in a fully integrated, tailorable, modular product designed for a distributed environment. Over the next 20 years, MAPICS evolved with the industry from MRP to MRP II to MAPICS/DB, and on to MAPICS XA. The functional expansion of the product saw the new MAPICS XA grow from 13 applications in MRP to more than 50 offered today, and make dramatic leaps ahead in the application of new technologies like client/server design, graphical user interface screens, advanced user-personalization functions, and of course, the Internet. In January 2000 MAPICS acquired Pivotpoint, Inc., and immediately expanded its offerings across the Windows NT, UNIX, and Linux platforms with Pivotpoint's Point.Man solution. With the acquisition, MAPICS also gained two other software solutions that operate as separate business units - Thru-Put, a supply chain management system and Maincor, and enterprise asset management solution.
