Matcon To Exhibit Gentle Bulk Tablet Handling Systems At INTERPHEX 2007 (Booth 1380)

Matcon USA Inc. will be exhibiting their 'Gentle Bulk Tablet Handling' system, which includes polyethylene tablet containers from 12 – 35 cu ft. with gentle let-down spirals that decelerate the tablets during filling, reducing drop heights and tablet degradation.

The systems allows for the bulk handling of tablets to cGMP standards in complete coating batches of 300-500 KGs minimizing operator involvement and improving product quality and production efficiency.

The 'cores' are gently filled into the tablet IBCs after compression and either flood fed or discharged in a controlled fashion using the Matcon tablet Cone Valve system to the coating, printing, and/or packing machines.

The fully contained system allows for partially discharged IBCs to be removed from the discharge stations and returned to storage for future processing or for empty IBCs to be easily cleaned manually or automatically on IBC Wash Stations/Booths and returned to process.

Also on display will be a 'Lab Scale Blender With P.A.T. Analysis.' The IBC Blender will be fitted with a thermal 'effusivity' sensor to show how NIR and thermal conductivity measurement is being successfully applied in the Pharmaceutical industry. Demonstrations will include simple blending trials and indication of the achieved consistency of the blend via P.A.T instrumentation.

Matcon industry specialists will also be available to discuss IBC 'in-bin' blending and the important considerations to the introduction of P.A.T technology into continuous/batch pharmaceutical production. Other discussion topics will include the various process concerns over; sifting, percolation and elutriation, which cause segregation during the handling and discharging of blended solids.
