What are the biggest challenges for Matcon in today's marketplace?

Overcoming the perception that we are a high-cost equipment supplier is our biggest challenge. We must work hard to understand applications and customer requirements and properly apply our technology. Matcon can offer unique solutions, which increase efficiency, provide greater flexibility, and expanded process capabilities.

What are the biggest advantages of using IBC technology for powder and liquid handling?

Matcon's ability to offer reusable packaging which provides batch integrity, traceability and control and product, environmental and operator protection is a very attractive benefit for our customers.

What percentage of Matcon's revenue is generated from the pharmaceutical industry?

60% of our revenue is generated out of the pharmaceutical industry.

How has the increased number of International manufacturing plants affected sales and marketing?

Matcon is a global company so we can and are taking advantage of this globalization. Matcon uses an extensive sub contract manufacturing chain that enables us to control costs and still provide the level of quality and service required.

What specific vertical markets hold the greatest interest for your products group?

Any industry handling high value products that is driven to automate, create production flexibility and reduce production costs are good prospects for Matcon.

How would you characterize Matcon's current position in the market?

We are an established, dependable supplier that offers unique technology to a variety of industries around the world. Matcon is a market leader and capable of complete supply, support and service.

What do you see in the future for the industry?

Reusable packaging and process containers will continue to gain market share as companies seek better control over production cost. The move towards production facilities with better flexibility favors IBCs.

Which one of Matcon's newest products has you the most excited at this point?

We have added a feeder function to our standard cone valve discharge station device. Varying the pulse time and adjusting the actual lift height gives us control on flow rate. We have now added the ability to modify the lift height automatically and remotely during the actual discharge of the product from the IBC. With self-learning, sophisticated controls, load cells and a programmable HMI, we can now accurately and quickly discharge products to a set weight.

What are your primary goals for the company in the next 12 months?

We intend to work more closely with our customers to gain a better understanding of their business, as well as how our technology and core competence can enable us to provide them with new products and solutions. This will ultimately reduce their production cost and improve the quality of their products.
