National Boston Medical Calls Off Acquisitions

National Boston Medical Inc. (Taunton, MA) has decided not to complete its previously announced acquisitions of 100% of Boston Neutraceuticals and 20% of Global Employees Benefit Services/Venezuela (GEBS). The Company said it has made a strategic decision to "sharpen its focus."

"Our challenges have been in the areas of finance and execution," said Dan Hoyng, president and co-chief executive officer. He said that acquiring 20% of GEBS and 100% of Boston Neutraceuticals would "do little to address either of these two challenges; indeed, they would have added significantly to our immediate financial exposure and created a new and complex set of logistical issues for which we lack the appropriate in-house management resources."

Instead, Hoyng said the Company will concentrate on its key strengths: a unique family of market-ready anti-microbial products with demonstrated appeal in medical, consumer, and commercial markets such as food preparation, hospitality, fast food, and grocery chains; and a dental product line, which NBM distributes for Bontempi, an Italian manufacturer of surgical instruments.

NBM is the developer and marketer of Safeshield an anti-bacterial/antiviral lotion that is comfortable to use and provides a minimum of 3 hours of protection from a broad range of common bacteria and viruses. Safeshield contains no alcohol and offers measurable test results.
