New analysis method verifies pressure distribution and magnitude in CAP/MAP systems

Source: Sensor Products Inc.

Sensor Products Inc. introduces the Topaq Pressure Analysis System. Used in conjunction with Pressurex/Fuji Prescale stress indicating films, Topaq provides a detailed view of the distribution and actual magnitude (PSI) of pressure between any contacting or impacting surfaces. Pressurex/Fuji Prescale films instantaneously and permanently change color in proportion to the amount of pressure applied to them. Topaq, a Windows based system, scans and interprets the exposed film and produces digitally enhanced images and statistical reports.

Topaq is a valuable aid in R & D and QC, for applications such as validation and calibration of sealing die pressure during pharmaceutical packaging. In aseptic packaging systems such as CAP/MAP, Topaq aids in fulfilling GMP compliance by revealing weak spots, channels and wrinkles at the sealing surface. Additionally, Topaq is used to verify and record pressure distribution during equipment set-up, preventive maintenance and product changeover for various Form/Fill/Seal, Deposit/Fill/Seal, and CAP/MAP systems. Finally, it is also useful in package drop test measurement, measuring roller pressure in the embossing and gravure processes, measuring interface pressure during ultrasonic welding, and taking nip impression between rollers.

Some of Topaq's features include histograms of pressure levels, enlargement and reduction capabilities, pseudo-color and 3-D view modes, extensive smoothing, filtering and thresholding. Surface contact area down to 3 mils can be analyzed. Each image and its accompanying statistics can be saved, printed and exported for analysis in other software packages.
