Osmonics' Solo Water Purification System
Osmonics Inc., a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of water purification and fluid handling equipment, today introduced the Solo IITM reverse osmosis (RO) system, a portable water purification system for use in the medical field. The advanced system, which is the second generation of the SoloTM RO system, is designed specifically for the purification of water used in dialysis applications.
The Solo RO system meets the demanding requirements that medical and laboratory users have requested for years. Its small size has allowed the Solo to become the most versatile portable RO machine on the market.
Unlike its predecessor, the Solo II system features a digital display for product - water total dissolved solids (TDS). For added safety, the Solo II features an audible alarm with adjustable set points which is incorporated into the TDS monitor.
The new Solo II also features product water recirculation, a notable feature in this type of device. The recirculation process returns excess product water to the feed stream. This reduces stress on the thin film RO membranes, conserves water, inhibits bacterial growth and helps lower operating costs.
The Solo II system allows for simple, trouble-free maintenance: An incoming - water solenoid valve allows for easy system cleaning and sanitizing without having to disconnect the incoming water supply.
Osmonics meets water quality and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) standards established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). Osmonics has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its water treatment systems designed for use in dialysis applications.
