Oxford Molecular Group Acquires Chemical Design

Oxford Molecular Group PLC (Oxford, England) has acquired Chemical Design Holdings PLC (Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England). Through the acquisition of Chemical Design and its Chem-X software, Oxford Molecular will provide increased depth of product offerings to scientists in cheminformatics, molecular design and combinatorial chemistry.

Chem-X, with more than 700 licenses sold worldwide on a broad range of platforms including Windows NT and UNIX, extends Oxford Molecular's capabilities in the areas of library registration, robotics integration and library design. Oxford Molecular gains receptor screening, 'design in receptor,' de novo design, reaction database searching and core molecular modeling capabilities for all types of molecules.

Chemical Design's Chem-X and Oxford Molecular's RS3 Discovery are client/server systems open to the sharing of technology and tools. Certain companies currently use these products together to meet their scientific data management needs. In the future, the systems can be tailored to provide more flexible systems for customers and to leverage this combination of technologies.

Chemical Design works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations worldwide applying software technology to meet customer needs in drug discovery. Application areas include combinatorial chemistry, library design to maximize diversity, lead optimization, and both chemical and high-throughput screening data management.
