P-MEC India Receives Exclusive Support From IPMMA
Show organizers CMPi have announced that P-MEC India, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Equipment Convention that debuts in Mumbai in late November 2007, will have the exclusive support of the IPMMA — the Indian Pharmaceutical Machinery Manufacturers Association.
The sector's leading trade association, the IPMMA has over 200 member companies — many of which will be represented at the show. The first P-MEC India will be held on November 24-27, 2007 in Hall 1 of the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
"After the unprecedented success of last year's Pharmaceutical Expo and CPHI India, attracting over 31,000 trade visitors and over 600 exhibitors, we are very pleased to co-operate with CMP again on these most successful shows for the Indian pharmaceutical industry," said Mrs. Shah, President of IPMMA.
To date, well over 125 Indian exhibitors have booked stands, with 17,600 sq. m. — more than 80% of show space — already sold. Manufacturers from Germany, Italy, Canada, China and Taiwan will be among those presenting in the International Pavilion.
"P-MEC India 2007 and CPhI India 2007 are clearly focused on engineering and APIs/bulk drugs respectively as major industry segments," added Mrs. Shah. "We expect innovative pharma machinery concepts to be showcased at P-MEC India as the ideal platform for one-to-one meetings and networking for buyers and sellers."
Typically showcasing pharma machinery, plant/facility equipment, instrumentation, filtration systems, automation and packaging, P-MEC focuses on one of the key challenges in pharma services — to develop more efficient production routes and systems for increasingly complex healthcare products.
"The support of the IPMMA for P-MEC India is a key milestone in the build-up to a new show that has attracted huge interest since announcement last October," said Hans Stoter, Event Manager for CMPi. "The machinery and equipment sector is a vital contributor to India's gathering momentum as a global pharma player, and we're delighted that demand has enabled us to introduce the show a year ahead of the original plan."
P-MEC India has its debut alongside the second CPhI India, which broke all previous CPhI launch records last year with 11,000 dedicated visitors and well over 300 exhibitors in three days. For 2007, CPhI India and the introduction of the contract services show ICSE India will be held in the Exhibition Centre's Hall 5 & 6 on November 25-27.
The three shows — providing complete coverage of all main pharma services sectors; ingredients, contract services and production equipment — are held in partnership with Pharmexcil, the Government of India's Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council, and will also have the valuable support of IDMA (Indian Drug Manufacturers Association), OPPI (Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India) and Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance.
The P-MEC show was launched in 2005 alongside CPhI in Madrid and this year — in Milan, October 2-4 — will be double the size of the 2006 European staging in Paris. P-MEC China was successfully launched in 2006 and in Shanghai this year (June 19-21) will host almost 200 exhibitors.
P-MEC India, with ICSE India and CPhI India, are jointly organised by CMPi and its regional sister companies CMP India and CMP Asia. CMPi and CMP Asia are also closely involved with the well-established CPhI/ICSE/P-MEC China and CPhI/ICSE Japan events.
The IPMMA's key missions are to promote growth with common goals to benefit large and small members alike, to promote the industry's interests and wider recognition and to catalyse effective communications across the sector. The Association was founded in late 2001.
IPMMA's 200+ member companies have an estimated combined business revenues from processing, packaging, utility and other ancillary equipment of over US $300m. and export to over 80 countries. See www.ipmma.org.
