Pack Expo Shows Selected For International Buyer Program

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has selected PACK EXPO International 2006 and PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2007 to participate in its International Buyer Program. PACK EXPO International 2006 will be held October 29-November 2, 2006 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2007 will take place October 13-15, 2007 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both shows are produced by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI).

The International Buyer Program at the PACK EXPO shows is a joint effort between the U.S. government and PMMI to match U.S. companies with international buyers and help sell U.S. packaging products and services to international markets. The PACK EXPO shows have participated in the International Buyer Program for over 30 years.

Elements of the program include international delegation recruitment, providing export counseling support and offering international market analyses onsite.

"For the past three decades, the international buyer program has literally brought thousands of buyers looking for the most innovative packaging solutions the world offers," noted Charles D. Yuska, president of PMMI. "This program helps PACK EXPO International and PACK EXPO Las Vegas become the ultimate venues for U.S. exhibitors and international buyers to come together and do business."

The upcoming PACK EXPO International will be the largest and most comprehensive packaging machinery and related converting exhibition in 2006, featuring over 1,600 companies utilizing over 1.2 million net square feet of exhibit space. The show is expected to attract over 50,000 senior buyers from around the world, including over 6,000 international visitors from 75 countries. Attendees will be able to view the latest developments in packaging technology with a focus on advances in packaging machinery, converting machinery, materials, packages and containers, and components.

PACK EXPO International will be co-located with the Converting and Package Printing Expo (CPP EXPO) and the PROCESS EXPO, formerly the Food Processing Machinery EXPO.

"Congratulations on your selection to join us in this major marketing venture," said Joseph English, program manager for the International Buyer Program in a letter to PMMI. "The survey of our domestic and overseas offices has concluded that U.S. products exhibited at your event will generate significant interest in numerous overseas markets. We look forward to the opportunity to work closely with you in building the international audience for your event."

Through the International Buyer Program, the U.S. Department of Commerce utilizes its more than 150 overseas offices to promote the products and services that will be exhibited at the PACK EXPO shows. The Department works closely with U.S. embassies and consulates abroad to promote trade show participation and encourage an international presence. Government experts are also available onsite to provide export counseling, marketing analysis and matchmaking services to the U.S. companies who are exhibiting at the show.
