Patent Awarded For Weed Instrument Field-Replaceable Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD)

Weed Instrument of Round Rock, Texas has announced that its popular field-replaceable RTD is now patented.

Designed to facilitate easy replacement of the temperature-sensing element without the use of a standard thermowell, the Model 461 Sanitary RTD now carries Patent Number 5,632,557.
The instrument combines the fast time response characteristics of a standard immersion sanitary sensor with all the advantages of a thermowell. The newly patented design incorporates a removable sensing element for easy, low-cost sensor retrieval and replacement with no breakage of the sanitary seal.
Constructed of 316L Stainless Steel, the RTD features a No. 4 finish that meets 3A standards, making it ideal for industries such as pharmaceuticals, biomedical production/research and foodstuffs.
RTD's are generally considered to be among the most accurate temperature sensors available. In addition to providing very good accuracy, they feature excellent stability and repeatability. RTD's also provide high immunity to electrical noise; they are thus outstanding for use in process and industrial automation environments, especially around motors, generators and other high voltage equipment.
For over 35 years, Weed Instrument Company has been providing the industrial, power generation and aerospace markets with a broad selection of catalog and custom temperature sensors, pressure transmitters and fiber optic converters for serial data interfaces and bus systems.
