PharmaMedDevice™ Announces Blue-Ribbon Advisory Board

PharmaMedDevice™, the world's first inclusive forum for the converging medical device, pharmaceutical, and biologic industries, announces a blue-ribbon advisory board. The distinguished advisory board members include leading experts from Johnson & Johnson, Vyteris, Medtronic, and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA). The advisory board is instrumental in guiding conference programming and event positioning to meet the multi-dimensional needs of companies involved in combination products.

This premiere event will provide unique sourcing, partnering and educational opportunities for medical device, pharmaceutical, and biologic industry professionals in the rapidly evolving combination products market. Many leaders from business, regulatory and academia are scheduled to exhibit, visit or present at PharmaMedDevice, April 24-26, 2007 in New York City, co-located with INTERPHEX.

As combination product developers, former members of the FDA, medical doctors, lawyers, and regulatory affairs professionals, PharmaMedDevice's advisory board brings a depth of expertise that is unmatched in the industry. The advisory board's distinguished members have held positions with the FDA, including Dr. David Feigal, the former director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) and Dr. Stuart Portnoy, who helped develop FDA's approach to reviewing drug-eluting stents and other drug/device combinations. Other members, such as Brad Thompson of Epstein, Becker, and Green, have worked from a legal perspective to advocate policy positions on regulatory issues associated with combination products.

PharmaMedDevice's advisory board members are not only helping to shape the event, but also this new, convergent industry. As Vice President, Government Affairs for Medtronic, Inc., Peter Sloane oversees a comprehensive outreach program that seeks to bring hospital, physician, patient advocacy groups, and other key stakeholder interests into working collaborations around shared policy interests. Other advisory board members, such as Robert O'Holla, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs – Medical Devices and Diagnostics for Johnson & Johnson, have dual experience working in the medical device and drug industries long before they came together in combination products.

"The diversity of our advisory board has helped round out our conference program, while attracting leading medical device and pharmaceutical companies as exhibitors, speakers, endorsers and attendees," says Christine Ford, Event Director of PharmaMedDevice. "Our participants will also benefit from PharmaMedDevice's co-location with INTERPHEX, the world's largest and most comprehensive pharmaceutical conference and exhibition. With 20 percent of INTERPHEX's audience indicating involvement in combination products, the two events will provide powerful crossover opportunities for participants."
