Aspen Technology, Inc. has announced the availability of Aspen PIMS version 10.0, a system for the optimization of economic planning and scheduling of process industry production facilities. The new version features full Windows interoperability support, powerful user productivity enhancements and tighter integration within the AspenTech Plantelligence suite.

Aspen PIMS enables users to analyze data compiled on the economic and process technology of a facility. The information is generated and maintained through the use of spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel, which permit the user to construct and manipulate models and customize reports according to need. The system then evaluates the assembled data and provides optimized solutions for each facet of the process, as well as an overall optimized solution for the plant.

The following features are available in Aspen PIMS 10.0:

  • Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 operating platform support.

  • OLE automation technology provides full Windows interoperability support with other Windows applications such as Microsoft Excel and Access, and also with other products in the AspenTech Plantelligence suite.

  • New PIMS-SI module allows Aspen PLUS, RT-OPT and other rigorous non-linear process simulators to be embedded in Aspen PIMS models.

  • New graphical flowsheet and tree-structure representations allow the user to manage and maintain Aspen PIMS models in a highly intuitive and efficient manner.

  • Powerful new diagnostic and analysis tools permit the user to rapidly resolve input data errors and validate model results.

  • New dynamic model sizing features allow users to construct much larger models with no limits to model size.
