New PerkinElmer High-Performance, Portable Raman Spectrometer Provides Pharmaceutical Industry Critical Material Identification Capabilities At The Source
PerkinElmer, a global leader in application-focused measurement and analysis solutions, recently announced a new portable Raman spectrometer designed to deliver unambiguous identification of pharmaceutical raw materials directly at goods-in or in the warehouse facility. The PerkinElmer Raman IdentiCheck combines the high spectral performance of a laboratory-based instrument with the convenience of a portable, hand-held trigger probe system.
"Until now, customers either faced a compromise in performance with handhelds or a delay in turnaround time by needing to use laboratory-based instruments," said Andrew Dennis, Raman spectroscopy business leader, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences. "There is an increasing requirement for 100 percent materials testing in the pharmaceutical market and with cost pressures mounting, the solution had to be in-warehouse, affordable and had to deliver the highest degree of confidence in sample analysis."
The no-compromise Raman IdentiCheck delivers laboratory-quality spectra (3500-230 cm-1 range, 4 cm-1 resolution and high sensitivity) with a lightweight trigger probe for ease and convenience of sampling through a range of plastic and glass packaging.
The system is controlled using a laptop or tablet PC equipped with a comprehensive suite of Enhanced Security (ES) software to meet the technical requirements of the Food and Drug Administration's 21 CFR Part 11. The PerkinElmer Spectrum software includes all data collection and sophisticated spectral processing such as baseline correction, photo-bleaching and spectral COMPARE™ to make even challenging samples more straightforward to analyze and positively characterize.
