Richman Chemical selects Sequencia software to manage contract manufacturing

Using processPoint Marketplace to manage chemical, pharmaceutical contract manufacturing

Sequencia Corp. (Phoenix) yesterday announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Richman Chemical Inc. (RCI; Lower Gwynedd, PA) to deliver accelerated time to market solutions for contract and toll manufacturing in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries. RCI, the largest independent broker of sourcing and contract manufacturing services, is using Sequencia's processPoint Marketplace, a recently launched Internet-based business-to-business collaboration and trading exchange, to manage their projects, streamline their workflow, and deliver rapid custom manufacturing and intermediate sourcing services.

Through the Strategic Partnership Agreement, RCI is implementing their full contract manufacturing business on processPoint. The relationship will allow RCI to extend its independent outsourcing to a broader community. "With the processPoint solution, we can dramatically accelerate our delivery of contract and toll manufacturing projects. The functionality within processPoint will significantly reduce our customer's time to market and strengthen our customer relationships," said Edward Richman, founder and president of RCI. "processPoint's technology platform will allow us to fill open capacity at our contract and toll manufacturing plants in a manner that increases both the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the entire outsourcing process," added Richman. In addition to managing projects with a multitude of suppliers around the world via the processPoint collaboration technology, RCI will also work with Sequencia to enhance the processPoint Marketplace contract manufacturing database and to deploy industry B2B exchange standards.

"Sequencia's strategy is to provide solutions that accelerate new product development, improve technology transfers and enable virtual manufacturing in the process industries," said Bob Pape, president and CEO of Sequencia. "From our first announcement of processPoint in early 2000, we have positioned it as the Collaborative Product Commerce solution for the process industries. processPoint Marketplace will be used throughout the process manufacturing community. It offers clear advantages for the industry's outsourcing professionals, contract manufacturers, toll providers and value added service providers."

The processPoint solutions allow companies to collaborate electronically with internal plants, contract manufacturers and toll converters. It provides the process industry with complete on-line project management and standardization of the overall insourcing and outsourcing processes. The end result includes secure intellectual property protection, configurable workflows, project status reviews and unambiguous technology transfer definitions.

processPoint Marketplace combines client-server based product knowledge management with internet-based project workflow technology that enable collaborative product development, deployment, and manufacturing. It is for companies that want to participate in a public, contract manufacturing marketplace and it includes process capability matching, process capacity matching, project costing and scheduling visibility, and cross company project tracking.
