Sanofi-Aventis And Famar Announce Their Intention To Expand Their Collaboration: Sanofi Aventis's Madrid Plant To Be Integrated Into Famar's Network.

Sanofi-Aventis and Famar announce recently the conclusion of an agreement setting the principles under which Famar would integrate the plant of Sanofi-Aventis, located at Avenida de Leganes in Alcorcon-Madrid, into its network of 11 sites across Europe. All employees of the plant will be transferred, while this versatile plant, producing solid and sterile forms including freeze drying, and currently supplying to more than 50 markets, will provide a solid platform for the further development of Famar's service offering. The agreement aims at strengthening a longstanding collaboration between Sanofi Aventis and Famar, initiated through the acquisition of Sanofi Aventis's plant in L'Aigle (FR), by Famar, in 2001. Both companies will enter into a partnership agreement for developing the manufacturing activity of the plant. Sanofi-Aventis will continue to source certain products from the site on the basis of a strong and sustainable supply agreement, while Famar has a project to develop the sterile manufacturing capacities at Alcorcon, and to prospect the very promising market of external manufacturing in Spain. As part of this project, Famar will implement a significant investment plan to expand the plant's sterile capacities and offering. The combination of the supply agreement with Sanofi Aventis and Famar's industrial project, will enable the further development of the site, and set the basis for a continued strong and sustainable collaboration between Sanofi Aventis and Famar. The definitive conclusion of this operation should occur by the end of the second quarter of this year 2011.
