BS&B Safety Systems, Inc. has introduced the SIGMA EXL reverse buckling rupture disk developed with the highest operating pressure capability available from rupture disk technology.

With a burst pressure range from 15 psig to 500 psig, the SIGMA EXL allows operating pressures of up to 95% of the marked burst pressure. Every SIGMA EXL disk's performance is validated by proof pressure testing to its maximum recommended operating pressure.

In effect, a "zero" range disk, the SIGMA EXL rupture disk is designed for use in gas, liquid or two-phase flow service.

The SIGMA rupture disk is also available. It has a minus 5% manufacturing design range for when operating conditions allow, at a reduced cost. SIGMA disks are also validated by proof pressure testing.

The SIGMA EXL and SIGMA rupture disks are designed for installation with an SRB-7RS pretorqued safety head. This enables upgrades of installations by many rupture disks that have standardized on the SRB-7RS safety head.

The SIGMA EXL and SIGMA disks use SAF (Structural Apex Forming) technology to achieve a wide range of burst pressures with great accuracy. A Damage Safety Ratio of less than or equal to 1 is made possible with SAF technology. This ensures that an inadvertently damaged disk will rupture at or below its marked burst pressure.

Available in sizes from 1" to 8" (25mm to 200mm), SIGMA EXL and SIGMA reverse buckling disks offer a wide range of corrosion resistant materials: nickel, stainless steel, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy C-276 (Hastelloy is a registered trademark of Haynes International, Inc.) and tantalum. Fluorocarbon liners supplied to the inlet side of these disks are available for added corrosion resistance.

Each rupture disk features an attached disk tag, which details correct orientation in the pressure system and displays the disk markings that meet the ASME or other code requirements together with any further information required by the user. The SIGMA EXL and SIGMA disks can be supplied in compliance with the ASME code, complete with a "UD" stamp on the attached tag.
