Sustained release formulations offer dose compliance at a target location, and long-acting drug delivery systems (DDS) with biodegradable polymers eliminate the need for implant removal, revolutionizing the concept of medicine administration. However, polymer-based DDS are often manufactured by thermal processes which can potentially damage the API. One way to overcome this challenge is to instead use solution processing techniques.

Solvent-based processing allows the DDS to work with thermally sensitive APIs, and many methods employ coating techniques that can be tailored to substrates while controlling thickness. Learn how a biodegradable polymer platform that is compatible with many substrates can enable several applications as a drug eluting carrier with a wide variety of APIs in both systemic and site-specific parenteral drug delivery.
