The DT-1200 Acoustic & ElectroAcoustic Spectrometer characterizes both particle size and zeta potential of concentrated suspensions. The measuring chamber of the DT-1200 contains both acoustic and electroacoustic sensors. As a result, this instrument is capable of measuring attenuation spectra (for particle size measurement) as well as Colloid Vibration Current (for zeta potential measurement) simultaneously.
There are multiple advantages for electroacoustic zeta potential measurements when compared to microelectrophoresis:
- no dilution, volume fraction up to 50%
- less sensitive to contamination
- higher precision (± 0.1 mV)
- low charges (down to 0.1 mV)
- electro-osmotic flow is not important
- convection is not important
- accurate for non-aqueous dispersions
