The SSM-150 is a hardware/software system designed to safely, efficiently, and effectively dispose of infectious medical waste at the point of generation. It measures approximately 9.5 feet in length by 6.5 feet high by 4 feet wide and weighs approximately 3,500 pounds. An accompanying filter-separator, utilized to dewater the processed solids, measures 4 feet by 5 feet and weighs an additional 300 pounds.
By exposing "red bag" waste to superheated water and steam (310°F) and simultaneously employing a proprietary cutting system, the SSM-150 renders infectious medical waste, non-infectious, non-hazardous, and non-recognizable. Once processed through the SSM-150, infectious medical waste can be discarded as non-regulated waste.
Healthcare facilities utilizing the Antaeus technology to dispose of their infectious waste will enjoy the following benefits:
- Significantly lower disposal costs and control of future costs.
- Reduced liability - less handling, less transport, less reliance on a third party disposal options.
- Reduction in administration and reporting tasks associated with off site disposal.
- Waste minimization by dissolving degradables, taking infectious liquids directly into the sanitary sewer, and reducing the volume of solid waste by 80% or more.
