The Sterilizable Microbiological Atrium (SMA) has been designed to meet all Federal Requirements for accurately testing microbiological organisms in a specific volume of air.
The Sterilizable Microbiological Atrium (SMA) has been designed to meet all Federal Requirements for accurately testing microbiological organisms in a specific volume of air. The company created the SMA sampler to adhere to the following requirements:
  • Sampling environmental conditions must be accomplished easily at the point where operations occur. The small size of the SMA (4 ½ in. diameter, 1 ½ in. height) permits localized use.
  • Sterilizing the test chamber is essential. The SMA is designed so that it can be completely sterilized.
  • Air must directly impinge on the agar for accuracy and to limit the potential for escape of organisms. The SMA design addresses this crucial requirement and renders the loss of organisms improbable.
  • Supporting equipment used in the sampling process may need to be located outside the sterile core area. The SMA design permits remote location of all electronic devices and vacuum sources.
