Generating a sufficient number of cells for inoculating a production bioreactor is both time-consuming and costly. Typically, using a batch seed train with a common seed ratio of 1:12 requires two steps, each taking five days, to prepare the final fed-batch culture. This process presents several challenges that a Sartorius customer aimed to overcome. To address these issues, the Biostat® RM, an intensified rocking motion bioreactor at a 1-liter scale, was introduced. This innovative approach achieves a seed ratio of 1:120, significantly reducing the seed preparation time by four days.

Discover how a company not only saved valuable time but also reduced costs associated with cell generation.
