Chronic eye diseases are a leading cause of blindness and low vision, and current treatment approaches have limitations in terms of patient adherence and bioavailability. To improve treatment options for chronic eye conditions, sustained-release delivery options for small molecules, biologics, and RNA are needed.

Celanese's VitalDose EVA platform offers a promising solution for controlled and continuous drug release in the eye. By using polymeric implantable drug delivery systems, this platform provides advantages such as improved bioavailability, reduced variability in patient compliance, and mitigation of issues associated with repeated injections.
