Three of the perennial problems associated with the transfer of tablets and granules from IBC's and day bins are:
- Damage caused to product becoming trapped at the valve discharge point,
- Leakage caused by the valves kept open by trapped product
- Difficulty in controlling discharge again due to trapping and leakage.
Based on the core design attributes of their proven cone valve system the ISL Tablet IBC Valve is the response to the limitations of conventional valves, such as butterfly, gate and iris as well as traditional cone valves. These invariably rely on very soft, usually oversized seals and seating, to both trap product and provide a seal. Use of this type of seal tends to leave product at the edge of the seating with the consequential problems of damage, contamination, leakage and environmental absorption. The only alternative processors have is to completely discharge the products, not always an acceptable situation.
The unique design of the ISL Tablet IBC Valve incorporates a pair of cones located together in the IBC or bin hopper. The upper cone has a finely defined bottom edge to minimise product damage; optionally has a soft edge seal or complete flexible conical cover. The lower cone seals at the outlet of the hopper with an optional soft edge seal. The key to the valve operation is the ability to seal both valves totally but sequentially with the flexible cover sealing first, to stop tablet flow, the upper cone next to prevent any leakage and finally the lower valve.
