Pressurex Pressure Points tactile force indicating films offer a a useful metrology tool for assessing compressive magnitude and distribution between contacting or impacting surfaces. Applications include both machine/component inspection and calibration.

Each Pressure Point sensor film comes pre-packaged in a ready-to-use blister sealed pouch. Pressure Points are available in sizes ranging from 0.3 in. (0.8 cm) to 1 in. (2.5 cm) diameter. The pouch has a clear window on one side for viewing the pressure film and a pressure sensitive adhesive on the back enabling the sensor to be quickly and easily affixed to any surface.

As the user places the sensor at a specific location of an interface, the sensor film instantaneously and permanently changes color. The intensity of this color is proportional to the amount of force applied, allowing the user to actually quantify the stress characteristics across the contacting surface. Precise PSI (kg/cm2) can be determined by comparison of the Pressure Point to a color calibration chart (conceptually similar to interpreting Litmus paper), or by using one of several imaging systems that Sensor Products supplies.

Pressure Points are a valuable aid in R & D and Quality Control, for applications such as validation and calibration of sealing die pressure during food and drug packaging. Also, Pressure Points are used to verify and record pressure distribution during equipment set-up, preventive maintenance and product changeover for various Form/Fill/Seal, Deposit/Fill/Seal, and CAP/MAP systems. Finally, they are also useful in package drop test measurement, measuring roller pressure in the embossing and gravure processes and measuring interface pressure during ultrasonic welding.
