Technilab To Acquire Rougier's Pharmaceutical Division

Technilab Pharma Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire the pharmaceutical division of Rougier, including the Chambly and Trois-Rivieres plants and a portfolio of Rougier products. Under the terms of the agreement, Technilab will also acquire the development project for Rougier's African Division.

The transaction calls for a cash payment of $10.8 million financed with liquidity by Technilab. Technilab will add approximately $17 million to its overall sales figure that will rise to some $67 million on an annual basis.

"This transaction is completely in line with the growth strategy that we announced during our initial public offering," said Jean-Guy Sabourin, president and CEO of Technilab. "The main elements of that strategy are expansion through acquisition and diversification of our products through alliances and acquisitions to better serve our clients."

Sabourin says the transaction will enable Technilab to increase and diversify its product lines, consolidate its positioning in over-the-counter products, optimize its Canadian and international distribution team and increase the company's sales.
