Technologix, Minidoc to Merge, Expanding EDC Businesses
The new company will create a global-scale electronic data capture resource assisting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in quickly, accurately, and efficiently completing their clinical trials.
"Integrating our technologies will make both products better," commented William Sheehy, president of Technilogix. "A seamless interface [between hardware and software] will more easily allow handoff of data from one technology to another, allowing clients to exchange data freely. Bringing the QOL diary data into our system will enhance our competitiveness and provide higher-quality data for our clients."
Sheehy will assume the role of CEO of the new company. "Together, TechniLogix and MiniDoc will offer the most experience of any electronic data capture vendor for support of clinical trials," Sheehy said. "The companies' products have been used by well over 15,000 clinical users in more than 200 clinical trials, and six approved New Drug Applications (NDAs) and one approved Biological License Application (BLA) have been completed," Sheehy added.
Per Egeberg, currently president and CEO of MiniDoc, will assume the duties of executive vice president of the new company. "The technology and services of the new company will enable users to significantly improve efficiencies within their clinical trial data processes, and achieve higher clinical data quality, leading to a competitive advantage over competing clinical trials," Egeberg commented.
According to Sheehy, Technilogix has 13 company-clients currently using its software, including Glaxo Welcome and Pharmacia & Upjohn. Minidoc has 17 active clients. The minimal overlap between the two groups presents the new company with excellent opportunities to expand. Technilogix expects the new venture, which will be headquartered in the United States, to reach revenues of $16 million during 2000 and experience annual growth of between 40% to 50%. Growth will be further spurred by the release, in early 2000, of TLViSiON, new Internet software created by TechniLogix. TLViSiON will offer users on-line or off-line data entry, remote data review, or in-house double-key data entry, as well as use of the Internet or a virtual private network for transmitting data.
