Telstar is pleased to announce that it has embarked on a major expansion program in North America. The expansion will involve the construction of a factory near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the USA, which will become the North American Headquarters of Telstar Life Sciences. The factory is being purpose-built for the manufacture of Lyophilizers for the pharmaceutical industry but will provide manufacturing and service support for all of the equipment solutions of the Telstar Life Sciences division, including autoclaves, clean water and steam process equipment, sterile and containment isolators and down-flow booths.

Offices and factory space have already been established near the site of the proposed factory to accommodate the existing administrative, project management and service personnel. The service function is already providing spare parts, maintenance and technical support to the existing installed base of Telstar Lyophilizers and is being expanded to support all of the Telstar Life Sciences equipment.

Dr Paul Stewart, President & CEO of Telstar North America, commented: "Telstar is developing very fast in North America and has recently signed an exclusive agreement with BioPharma Systems to support sales of isolators and booths throughout the territory. The new facility enables the existing Telstar offices to be unified under the recently introduced Telstar Life Sciences banner."

Telstar Chairman Ton Capella added: "I am delighted that the Board has unanimously approved the construction of new facilities in North America and in Europe to add to the recently completed Asian factory in Shanghai. This provides recognition that Telstar now operates on a truly global basis."
