Uhlmann Introduces New Blister Machine
Blister machine B 1660 is the newcomer to Uhlmann's range of machines. It is the result of consistent further development of Uhlmann's high performance technology. Operating at a speed of up to 700 blisters/minute, the machine processes all common types of forming material. It is not only easy to operate using the TouchScreen with 3D visualization, but also runs particularly quietly in so-called whisper mode. Intelligent solutions such as the tool quick-change system are characteristic of the B 1660. The controlled discharge of waste air and heat guarantees a clean room atmosphere and the production data acquisition system allows fast process analysis.
Depending on requirements, the customer can choose between continuous motion rotary sealing (B 1660 MTK) and intermittent motion platen sealing (B 1660 MTI). The rotary sealing Blister machine B 1660 MTK combined with a vibratory feeder is suitable for the production of standard blisters with symmetrical products such as round tablets and capsules. Continuous motion production is typical for this process. On the other hand, pharmaceutical manufacturers processing calendar and sample packs, blisters with large pockets, large blisters with stiffening ribs and all-aluminum blisters are well served by the B 1660 MTI with intermittent motion platen sealing.
A highlight of the machine is the blister transfer to the cartoner. The blisters are punched in an upward direction. Suction arms carefully take the blisters from the punch and gently place them on the vacuum conveyor. The blisters first move to an intermediate deposit. The blister lanes are centered before the blisters are lowered and loaded into the product chain. Thanks to this new form of blister transfer, it is unnecessary to have an additional product chain in the cartoner – this saves space and money. At interpack, the Blister machine B 1660 forms a perfectly coordinated packaging line in combination with the Cartoner C 2504. The C 2504 packages up to 500 cartons/minute, which makes it the world's fastest pharmaceutical cartoner.
Blister machine B 1660 in conjunction with the new SimpTap 3 feeder also forms an ideal team. Thanks to its larger format range, the SimTap 3 is also ideal for high outputs. SimTap stands for "Simultaneous Tablet Placement" – the functional principle being that the number of products ready for placement corresponds with the number of pockets. The products are placed in the pockets simultaneously. Whether demanding or standard shaped products, this technology is suitable for practically all solids. SimTap3 i is designed for intermittent motion blister machines, i.e. the products are placed in the blister pockets during a dwell of the machine cycle. SimTap 3 k has an actuated manifold and places the products in the continuously moving web.
