Vacuum insulation is an advanced thermal insulation technology that delivers three to eight times the capability of conventional technology. VIPs are essentually evacuated envelopes surrounding microporous cores. These cores have a low amount of thermal conductivity. Which allows them to reach Insulation resistance (R) values of 20 to 40 per inch. Because of their high R values, packages containing VIP technology and loaded with frozen gel packs stay cold up to eight times longer than conventional insulated shipping containers.
Recently the United States Military has employed the use of Vacuum Insulation in the shipping of anthrax vaccines worldwide.
Vacuum Insulator Panels (VIP) provide state of the art performance in a wide variety of industries. Such As:
- Containers for the shippment of perishable foods.
- Containers for the distribution of vaccines, donor organs as well as pharmaceutical products which require storage at specific temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Containers for the protection of temperature-sensitive electronic equipment.
- Containers which are space-efficient, reliable refrigeration for crew provisions on the International Space Station.
- Insulation for buildings
- Insulation for refrigerated trucks, consumer appliances as well as warehouse refrigeration.
