Warner Chilcott, plc Appoints New Board Members

Warner Chilcott, plc has announced that Bruce L. Downey, chairman, CEO and president of Barr Laboratories, Inc., and James H. Bloem, executive vice president of Perrigo Company, have been appointed to the company's board of directors.

"Both Bruce and Jim bring to the table invaluable experience, and we are honored to have them join our board," said James G. Andress, CEO of Warner Chilcott.

Downey, 50, has been chairman, CEO and president of Barr Laboratories, Inc. since July 1994. Prior to joining Barr in 1993, he was a capital partner in the law firm of Winston & Strawn and a partner in a predecessor firm of Bishop, Cook, Purcell and Reynolds. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Miami University and his law degree from Ohio State University.

Bloem, 47, was appointed executive vice president of Perrigo Company in 1995. He previously served as chief financial officer, treasurer and general counsel of Herman Miller, Inc. and as partner of the law firm, Law, Weathers & Richardson. He earned his AB degree in English and economics from Calvin College, his Juris Doctor in corporate and tax law from Vanderbilt University School of Law, and his MBA in finance and control from Harvard Business School.
