Water Flow Sensor SFAW

Source: Festo Corporation

The SFAW has been designed for monitoring the flow, volume and temperature of mains water in pipeline systems or terminal equipment in industry. Measurement is carried out by means of the vortex principle, with a piezoceramic sensor element measuring the frequency of vortex shedding on an impediment upstream of the sensor element. Above a minimum flow velocity, the frequency of vortex shedding is proportional to the flow velocity. The flow rate and the accumulated volume are calculated from the flow velocity and shown on the display. In addition to the flow velocity, the sensor also records the temperature of the medium as a further physical measured input variable.
