Walk-in Hydrogen Peroxide Vapor (HPV) Bio-decontamination Chamber: WIC-1

Source: Bioquell Inc.

Bioquell has a range of hydrogen peroxide vapor (HPV) enabled material transfer systems which reduce the risk of this critical process. Transfer of materials in and out of controlled areas, whether it be an aseptic processing area or a biological containment zone, can be a major risk for the process or personnel.

Bioquell material transfer solutions eliminate the transfer of contamination on the surface of materials and equipment entering and exiting controlled areas via a high level (6-log sporicidal) hydrogen peroxide vapor bio-decontamination and viral cleaning process. The solution prevents cross-contamination or spread of infection, maintaining biosafety and risk management with an automated process, including safety interlocking.

The walk-in hydrogen peroxide vapor (HPV) bio-decontamination chamber is for material loads or equipment entering or exiting controlled areas. With floor level loading/unloading, the Bioquell WIC-1 integrates all the essential components into an efficient and safe system for transfers including a high level disinfection process.

Bioquell WIC-1 Features

  • Modular panels with standard sizes available – expandable in 0.5m increments
  • Built on existing floor structure avoiding complex construction preparation
  • Interlocked controlled doors with inflatable seals
  • Ceiling mounted catalyst/HEPA unit for rapid aeration giving fast bio-decontamination cycle times from 1 hour

The Bioquell solution combines safety management, cycle control and alarm handling together with cycle recording for assurance and compliance requirements. Short cycle times provide minimal disruption to work flows and facility processes.

Key benefits of HPV:

  • Excellent material compatibility including sensitive electronics
  • Environmentally friendly - ‘residue-free’ (breaks down to water vapor and oxygen)
  • Effective against a wide range of microorganisms and viruses
  • High level disinfection achieved (6-log sporicidal disinfection)

Applications:

  • GMP cleanrooms
  • Aseptic processing
  • Biologics
  • Biomedical
  • Biosafety/security
